The Great Dictator - A Review

5 Stars - Pure Genius

Quite simply the best piece of satire I've ever seen.

Charlie Chaplin's first full talking picture, the great dictator is a genius satire on Hitler and the Nazis.

Chaplin plays two roles, Hynkel, the titular dictator and a Jewish Barber, the contrast between these two characters is marvellous, Hynkel is powerful and dominant, but ultimately pompous and stupid; and the Jewish Barber is meek and quiet.

The film is full of several routines that really put Chaplin's abilities to use, such as the globe routine, the shaving scene and the coins in the pudding scene.

I want to be alone
In short if you in anyway like classic cinema then you must watch this film.
