Wanderlust - A Review

3.5 Stars - surprisingly good

Old people nudists... ew...

Wanderlust tells the story of Mike from Friends and Rachael from Friends as a married couple who stumble upon a hippy commune and decide to try living there.

I was not overly enthusiastic before going into this film, and I was pleasantly surprised. The characters are enjoyable, the jokes are funny and the film has just enough heart to make it a bit more than a lame comedy.

There is however one section that was horrible and not funny... at all... Paul Rudd is attempting to psyche himself up to go have sex with one of the women in the commune and he talks to himself in the mirror and just starts spouting vulgar offensive nonsense. This is not comedy, it never has been and never will be funny, and people need to learn this, if it weren't for this scene I'd probably have given this film 4 stars. But once again modern comedies don't get how to make talking about sex funny.

But that scene aside it is genuinely very enjoyable and I'd say worth a watch, if nothing else for the scene near the start with the HBO executives and the nudist author/wine maker...
